90-year-old found in Hamburg – police thank you for help!

Today, September 13, 2025, there is good news from Oststeinbek: The police have withdrawn the search for a 90-year-old lady. As news.de reports, the missing person was found safe and sound in a clinic in Hamburg. The police would like to thank the public for their active help and ask that the previously published photo be deleted immediately.

The 90-year-old was reported missing on September 12, 2025, causing great concern in the region. The search for the lady captivated many local supporters who kept a keen eye out for her. Fortunately, the case has now been concluded positively.

Ongoing search for teenager

While this case has been resolved, there are still unanswered questions in Hamburg regarding a 17-year-old teenager. She was reported missing on January 10, 2025 after she left her parents' apartment on Gustav-Adolf-Straße around 11 a.m. and did not return. As T-Online reports, the police's search measures in this case have so far been unsuccessful. The search has now been stopped because the young person is now of age and, according to the police, has apparently left her usual environment voluntarily.

She is therefore no longer considered missing and all searches have been completed. The police noted that adults are free to choose where they want to stay, while minors who leave their circle of life are placed under special observation.

A closer look at missing people

The issue of missing persons concerns society in many ways. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), founded in 1951, is the central contact point for such cases in Germany. According to information from [BKA](https://www.bka.de/DE/ UnserAufgabe/Ermittlungsunterstuetzung/BearbeitungVermisstenfaelle/bearbeitungVermisstenfaelle.html), a person is considered missing if they are inexplicably absent and a danger to life or limb is suspected. In particular, minors who leave their safe circle of life are considered missing, and in such cases the police can take further action.

In 2024, around 18,100 children were reported missing in Germany, 96.7% of whom were identified by the end of the year. A remarkable fact is that about 3% of missing people have to be searched for more than a year. These statistics illustrate how important public assistance and attention is to reporting missing persons.
