Big MSC Yellow Festival: A day full of fun and surprises in Hamburg!

On June 14, 2025, Hamburg will once again be the venue for a very special festival: The “MSC Yellow Festival” breaks the waves on the Elbe and invites all visitors to an unforgettable experience between the legendary Landungsbrücken and the Jan Fedder Promenade. Organized by the shipping company MSC, which has immersed itself deeper in Hamburg's maritime culture by joining Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), this event promises not only entertainment, but also deep insights into shipping.

A colorful range of activities extends from midday to late evening, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Visitors can look forward to lots of interactive hands-on activities that allow them to experience everyday life on board a container ship up close. Highlights include street performers, musicians and artists who entertain the audience with their performances. The culinary delights are not neglected either: food trucks offer international specialties that make the festival a culinary experience.

Ship christening and live concert

A very special event is at the top of the agenda: the christening of the new LNG container ship “MSC Germany”. With an impressive length of 350 meters, it will be loaded with yellow containers and will stop directly in front of the jetties. Economics Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) will christen the environmentally friendly ship, which is considered one of the most sustainable container ships in the world. Depending on wind conditions, it may be necessary to relocate the baptism location at short notice to ensure safety.

But that's not all: for music lovers, the festival will be crowned with a live concert by Hamburg artist Zoe Wees on a floating stage on the Elbe. The event is presented by Radio Hamburg and presenter Christian Stübinger (Stübi), so the atmosphere is guaranteed to get going.

A festival with a vision

The “MSC Yellow Festival” not only celebrates the maritime connection between Hamburg and the shipping company MSC, but also reflects the importance of the port of Hamburg for the economy and security of supply in Europe. The Hamburg Senate recently approved a new port development plan until 2040, which strengthens the port as a central player for Germany as an export nation. This plan aims to sustainably secure the economic importance and influence of the port, which will also be supported by events such as the festival in the coming years. More information can be found on the website Hamburg Port Authority.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy the free event and be part of this maritime celebration. With the combination of interactivity, music and tradition, the “MSC Yellow Festival” on June 14th will certainly be a must for all Hamburg residents and visitors to the city. Be there and experience Hamburg from its liveliest side!
