Big MSC Yellow Festival: A day full of fun and surprises in Hamburg!
On June 14, 2025, Hamburg will again become the scene of a very special festival: The "MSC Yellow Festival" will break the waves on the Elbe and invites all visitors to an unforgettable experience between the legendary bonds and the Jan Fedder promenade. Organized by the MSC shipping company, which is immersed in the Maritime Culture of Hamburg by entering the Hamburg harbor and Logistik AG (HHLA), this event not only promises entertainment, but also deep insights into shipping.
From noon to the late evening hours, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., a colorful range of activities extends. Visitors can look forward to a lot of interactive hands-on activities that enable you to experience everyday life on board a container ship up close. The highlights include street artists, musicians and artists who entertain the audience with their performances. The delicacies are not neglected either: Food trucks offer international specialties that make the festival a culinary experience.
Schiff baptism and live concert
A very special event is at the top of the agenda: the baptism of the new LNG container ship "MSC Germany". With an impressive length of 350 meters, it is loaded with yellow containers and stopped directly in front of the landing bridges. Economic Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) will be baptized by the environmentally friendly ship, which is considered one of the most sustainable container ships in the world. Depending on the wind conditions, it could be necessary to move the baptismal location at short notice to grant security.
But not enough: For music lovers, the festival is crowned with a live concert by the Hamburg artist Zoe Wees on a floating stage on the Elbe. The event is presented by Radio Hamburg and moderator Christian Stübinger (Stübi), so that the mood is guaranteed to come up.
a festival with foresight
The "MSC Yellow Festival" not only celebrates the maritime connection between Hamburg and the shipping company MSC, but also reflects the importance of the port of Hamburg for the economy and the security of supply in Europe. The Hamburg Senate has recently decided on a new port development plan until 2040, which strengthens the port as a central player for the export nation Germany. This plan aims to ensure the economic importance and the influence of the port, which is also supported by events such as the festival in the coming years. More information can be found on the website of the Hamburg Port Authority .
Visitors are cordially invited to enjoy the free event and to be part of this maritime celebration. In the combination of interactivity, music and tradition, the "MSC Yellow Festival" on June 14 will certainly be a must for all Hamburgers and visitors in the city. Be there and experience Hamburg from its most lively side!
