Hamburg's digital future: Info pop-up in the Europa Passage starts!
In Hamburg, preparations for the upcoming Digital Day are in full swing. On the occasion of the event, which will take place on June 27, 2025, an exciting campaign will be launched for all Hamburg residents. The “Hamburg Service Pop-up” will bring a breath of fresh air in the Europa Passage from June 25th to 27th and make the digital world come alive. Everyone is informed about over 300 digital administrative services that can be applied for via the Internet - from car registration to daycare vouchers to re-registration after moving.
However, as hamburg.de reports, many of these online services can only be used if the online identification function of the ID card is activated. Currently only a shy 22% of the population uses this practical feature. To ensure that this does not remain the case, the “Hamburg – digital for you” marketing campaign is committed to reaching more people and promoting use. The pop-up in the Europa Passage will also provide active information about how the online ID function is used and activated. Jan Pörksen, State Councilor and Head of the Hamburg Senate Chancellery, emphasizes that simple contact options with authorities are important in order to make everything more transparent and easier to access.

The pop-up stand opens daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with June 25th being dedicated to the “motor vehicle special.” Here you can find out about topics such as re-registrations, de-registrations or vehicle registrations. On June 26th and 27th, there will be the opportunity to activate the online ID function free of charge directly on site - a real service that has so far been difficult to provide, as Radio Hamburg emphasizes. Digital guides are available to support you in using their services.
The Hamburger Bücherhallen and the HVV are also taking part in Digital Day and are using their own campaigns to ensure that digital participation in the city is further strengthened. There will be many more pop-up stations in different districts, such as the Alstertal shopping center in Wandsbek, the Tibarg Center in Eimsbüttel and the City Center Bergedorf, to name just a few.
A look into the future
The current campaign “Hamburg – digital for you” is not only a step in the right direction, but also runs until the end of 2025 and uses advertising strategies such as posters, social media and various campaigns to create more awareness of the digital offerings. This continuously advances the digital availability of official services and shows that access to the digital world should be made easier for every Hamburg resident.
All in all, Digital Day will be an important milestone for digital administration in Hamburg, where not only technology enthusiasts but also many others can learn about the digitalization of everyday life. So, come by and get inspired!
