Climate fight in Hamburg: Hundreds demonstrate for the future!
The climate is a hot topic, and the “Fridays for Future” movement also shows in Hamburg that the pressure on politicians is continuing to increase. Today, November 14, 2025, numerous demonstrations took place in the city center on the occasion of the World Climate Conference in Brazil. Despite the gray weather report and drizzle, several hundred people gathered to make their voices heard. The call from “Fridays for Future” was clearly directed against the German government’s inadequate measures in international climate protection, in particular its support for fossil fuels. As ndr.de reports, according to the organizers there were around 1,000 demonstrators who also drew attention to themselves with creative slogans such as “No trees, no dreams” and “We are young and need the world”.
Passionate speeches were given on Mönckebergstrasse, the heart of the event. Annika Rittmann from “Fridays for Future” emphasized the already noticeable effects of the climate crisis and the urgency to act. Luisa Neubauer also did not miss the opportunity to criticize Germany's role in international climate policy as "embarrassing" and called for noticeable measures against climate change instead of reducing the tax on airline tickets. Climate researcher Mojib Latif appealed to the demonstrators to have faith in the facts and to have perseverance for climate protection.
Strong messages and musical background
The event was accompanied by music by artists such as Brosie and Michèl von Wussow, who created the right atmosphere. This type of rally not only brings people together, but also shows a clear will to fight for a better future. The movement's clientele is diverse. From students to committed parents to older people, everyone was represented. The demonstration led through the city center and obviously ended back on Mönckebergstrasse.
Demonstrations in several cities
It doesn't just stop in Hamburg: The “Fridays for Future” actions were also planned in Hanover, Hildesheim, Osnabrück, Oldenburg, Flensburg, Rostock and Greifswald. Global attention to climate protection is becoming increasingly urgent, and climate activists are once again showing that we are all called upon to make a difference. Regardless of whether you are young or old, the message is clear: the planet needs our commitment so that it remains habitable in the future.
In other news circulating today, police said four arrests were made as part of security checks and that many German seaports are increasing cooperation in the fight against drug cartels. A ban on weapons in local transport in Hamburg, which has been in effect since the end of 2024, also continues to be highly discussed. As the current situation shows, there are numerous issues in politics and society that affect us all.
