Jarmen celebrates: New BMX skate park opens for Unity Day!

On October 3, 2025, the holiday celebrating German unity, a very special event is taking place in Jarmen, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The new BMX skate park ceremoniously opens its gates, bringing a breath of fresh air to the region's sports landscape. At a celebration from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. everyone interested will have the opportunity to inaugurate the new facility and get involved themselves.

The initiator behind this exciting project is Jan “Monchi” Gorkow, frontman of the band “Feinecreme Fischfilet”. Thanks to his tireless fundraising campaigns, which brought in tens of thousands of euros, the construction of the skate park was significantly advanced. Mayor André Werner has already invited the people of Jarmen during a work assignment on September 26th to lend a hand on site and thus promote a sense of responsibility for the new facility.

A place for sport and community

The skate park will be built next to the football field in Jarmen and will cost a total of around 70,000 euros. An expert from Neubrandenburg manufactured the individual parts of the park, some of which have already arrived in Jarmen. Daniel Jahnke, state coach for BMX freestyle, is responsible for planning and implementation. He will also be there with his squad to test the new tracks and give instructions to the young people.

What can visitors expect at the opening? In addition to the opportunity to test the new cable cars, a colorful supporting program is offered. Professional sprayers design the course, while the catering is provided by the local football club: there is a barbecue and a DJ provides musical entertainment. Dance performances and souvenir photos are also on the agenda.

A community project

The opening of the skate park is not only a sporting enrichment for the region, but also an example of what can be achieved together. Many hands contributed to the construction of this new leisure resort, and it is clear that a place of meeting and togetherness is being created here. The invitation to the people of Jarmen to actively help with the construction not only promotes a feeling of belonging, but also the awareness of having their own space to live out sport and creativity.

So it's called: Off to the opening of the new BMX skate park in Jarmen, where sport, fun and community come together!
