Carnival in Anklam: New princes and empty city treasury celebrate the start!
On November 12th, 2025 at 11:11 a.m. sharp the time had come: The Anklamer Carneval Club (ACC) got its members and guests in the mood for a happy carnival session. Mayor Michael Galander symbolically handed over the town hall keys and the city treasury to the carnival participants. However, he made a small swipe when he announced that the city's treasury was "completely, completely empty" this year. Despite the financial constraints, he didn't let it spoil his mood and celebrated with the hundreds of people present.
The ceremony took place in front of the town hall, where numerous carnival fans came together to get to know the new prince couple. ACC President Heike Wegner introduced Princess Petra and Prince Tom Mikschofsky, both of whom are carnival newcomers and found their way to the ACC through their daughter, a Funkenmariechen. What is particularly noteworthy is that Petra Mikschofsky has been active in the background of the carnival for a long time and has been recognized for her commitment.
A happy start
The session began at 11:11 a.m. with a colorful program and dances that gave a first foretaste of what carnivalists can expect in the coming weeks. The highlight will be the ACC's first evening event, which will take place on Saturday, November 15th at 7:19 p.m. in the theater. Here the battle cry “Anklamiten oho” will be heard, which best represents the fools. If you don't have tickets yet, you can buy them at the city information center in the Anklamer Ritz.
But there are also big celebrations in the neighboring communities. The Happy Carnival Club Spantekow (FKK) are celebrating a very special anniversary this year: their 50th time of fools. Their show program is led by the youngest members, and there are still remaining tickets available for this event, which certainly increases the anticipation of a great event.
A carnival for everyone
The opening of the carnival session is not only a start to many happy days, but also an opportunity to strengthen the community. In both Anklam and Spantekow, this special time of year is used to bring people together and escape the worries of everyday life for a while. Cold weather or empty coffers, that's all irrelevant as long as the carnival brings joy and makes people laugh.
With this in mind, the carnivalists are looking forward to everything that comes and hope for numerous visitors at the upcoming events. Carnival is truly a time of celebration and solidarity that warms people's hearts - and even if the city's coffers are empty, the coffers of joy are full to the brim.
Anyone who is still looking for an entertaining evening has the opportunity to attend the various events and become part of this colorful hustle and bustle. After all, carnival has many facets and there is something for everyone, which clearly answers the question: Who will enjoy the best time of the year?
