Repair of the jetty in Zeitlow: A new attempt for local recreation!
Summer time is not only ideal for sun worshipers in northern Germany; The Zeitlow water hiking rest area has also benefited greatly in the last few weeks. The jetty in particular, which was previously in a precarious condition, recently underwent a thorough renovation. Users, including especially women's sports groups from the Loitzer region, had pointed out the defects in the wooden structure, which contributed significantly to the renovation. Nordkurier reports that The city of Loitz immediately provided the necessary financial resources.
The footbridge at the rest area was not only damaged, but the bench was also marked by torn pieces of wood. The city administration immediately confirmed the repair measures that had been initiated. The construction yard, under the direction of Maik Maschmeier, took over most of the work in which old, weather-damaged planks were removed. In a further step, the Abel company from Trantow was commissioned to carry out the demanding welding work from a small pontoon.
A strong performance in the renovation project
The work was accompanied by Volkmar Gohs, the foreman from the Abel company, who emphasized that such renovation work on the water side is not common, but is not completely new either. Young campers had an eye on what was happening at all times and were able to see first hand how the jetty was being brought back into shape.
A new substructure made of galvanized steel beams was installed and the old wooden decking was to be replaced with modern plastic planks. This step will, in a promising way, help to significantly extend the life of the jetty. The estimated costs for this part of the renovation are around 30,000 euros, most of which have already been incurred. Nordkurier highlights that The work progressed quickly in good weather.
Since the start of the season, the Zeitlow water hiking rest area has become increasingly popular with local recreationists and short-term campers. It seems that the renovation of the jetty has come at exactly the right time and will significantly increase both leisure activities on site and user satisfaction. With this measure, the city of Loitz has proven that it has a good handle on the needs of its citizens and visitors.
