Tenth graders in Jarmen celebrate farewell with colorful fancy dress fun!

In Jarmen, the tenth grade students celebrated their last day of school in style. With colorful decorations, creative make-up and imaginative costumes, they brought a breath of fresh air to the school, or rather, they made a lot of noise before the upcoming exams. The class of 23 students, consisting of 11 boys and 12 girls, is supervised by teacher Kathleen Lietz, who has been accompanying many of the young people on their journey for six years. The class started in the fifth grade with a higher number of students, which led to the formation of two classes, but over time some students changed high schools or left school.

The excitement is rising because the written exams are coming up soon, followed by oral exams from July 7th. In the last week of classes there were already two theme weeks in which the students performed under a different theme every day, a tradition that often causes a lot of joy, but also chaos. These theme weeks are not only popular in North Rhine-Westphalia, where they are celebrated as an important tradition by School Minister Yvonne Gebauer. She emphasizes the importance of being considerate and recommends that students make mutual arrangements in advance for an orderly process in order to avoid possible conflicts. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia reports on this.

From childhood memories to gender roles

During the aforementioned theme weeks, memories created became part of everyday life: from childhood memories to gender roles - the students' creativity knew no bounds. They provided special attention on their last day of school. They blocked the entrances and the courtyard with red and white ribbon to confront their classmates and make the farewell as memorable as possible.

Of course, fun should go hand in hand with responsibility. At such events, care must always be taken to ensure that no offensive slogans or disguises are chosen, which could lead to a bad reputation for the school. Recently, some student groups have become the subject of ridicule for thoughtless mottos and the glorification of alcohol or drugs. It is advisable to educate yourself about the use of mottos and ensure that they are not offensive. Because when you're having fun, the error devil shouldn't be involved in order to avoid possible embarrassment, like is explained on the Autenrieths website.

It remains to be seen how the exams will go, but until then, the students are enjoying their farewell full of color and joy. The combination of celebration and learning is a challenging but beautiful time in a student's life, and the memories are sure to stay with them for a long time.
