Rostock motorway access road: closures and diversions from Wednesday!
There will soon be a few construction sites on the motorway access road between Rostock and the A20. Preparations have been underway since Monday for extensive repair work, which is scheduled to officially begin next Wednesday, July 16th. Many drivers will have to prepare for traffic delays and take one or two detours in the next few weeks. NDR reports that safety beacons and traffic signs are already in place to inform drivers in good time.
The work became necessary after inspections revealed significant defects in the surface layer. These defects not only affect the feeder road itself, but also the entrances and exits at the Kritzmow junction, which will also be closed. The construction site extends from the Kritzmow junction to the A20, Rostock-West junction, and will last until August 5th. Nordkurier added that the asphalt surface was only replaced in August 2024 and that there will be a claim for recourse against the construction company for the disruptions in question.
Detours and restrictions
In order not to put too much strain on road users, at least one lane in each direction will always be available on the feeder road during construction work. Nevertheless, some areas are definitely closed: Access to the Kritzmow junction from the direction of Rostock-Warnemünde and the exit from the A20 from the direction of Stettin are closed for safety reasons. Road users must prepare for two signposted detours:
- Umleitung über die A20 bis zur Anschlussstelle Rostock-Südstadt, weiter über die L132 nach Niendorf und Südring in Rostock, um schließlich via Satower Straße (L10) weiterzufahren.
- Alternative Umleitung von Kritzmow über Clausdorf (L10) zur Anschlussstelle Bad Doberan auf der A20.
Despite these diversions, the Highway Administration's intention is to maintain traffic flow as best as possible. Additional road safety measures are already being planned to avoid similar problems in the future. This also includes increased monitoring and maintenance of road infrastructure to ensure that such deficiencies are identified and corrected at an early stage.
Drivers should therefore be careful and patient, especially in the next few weeks. Safe driving is not just about the production of the vehicles - it is also about the quality of the roads, which has been tried and tested in the rest of the Federal Republic. Stay safe on the roads and allow enough time for your journeys!
