Historical local transport on Rügen inspires visitors!

A journey into the past experienced enthusiastic and historical visitors from June 12th to 15th, 2025 on the beautiful island of Rügen. As lok-report.de , historical local transport on the route to Rügen to Lauterbach Mole took place, whereby a variety of truly impressive vehicles took place got.

The nostalgic features were not only a feast for the eyes, but also real vehicles in history: The locomotives 86 1744-1 and V200 507 of the EBS pulled the trains, accompanied by the historical diesel railcars LVT 172 140-6 and 172 141-4, known as piglet tax. A ride on one of these single -track side railway lines, which has been in operation for 135 years, was able to make the hearts of the participants beat faster.

insight into the railway tradition

The route itself, which branches off from the Stralsund - Sassnitz railway station in the Bergen station and leads via Putbus to Lauterbach Mole, measures 12.523 kilometers. The Putbus - Lauterbach Mole section was rebuilt in 1999 for narrow -sized bathing trains of the Rügen Bäderbahn and can therefore also come up with nostalgic trips in summer. A special highlight: The section was initially opened on August 15, 1889 to Putbus, followed by the extension to Lauterbach on May 15, 1890. With a good hand, the Railway and Operating Society Pressnitztalbahn mbH (Press) took over the section in 2014 and has been operating it itself since then.

The next historical local transport will take place from July 24th to 27th, 2025, with a number of regular train journeys and again very special historical vehicles. Steam locomotives of the 86 series and a locomotive of the V100 series, as well as the popular piglet taxes are planned. And if there is a bottleneck with technical defects, other vehicles can step in at short notice so as not to leave the passengers in the rain.

special trains and other highlights

A highlight in the season are the special trains of the frenzied Roland, who run from Putbus to Binz four times a day, pulled by the towing locomotive 99 4652. For those who are equipped to cross a piece of the former route to Altefähr, there is also an exciting news: This section should be restored to Putbus West. The following also applies: tickets, including Germany tickets, are valid for trips with historical vehicles at no extra charge. A respectable relic of the old route to Altefähr is the impressive viaduct in Putbus, which continues to attract numerous photographers.

For additional inspiration for the history of the railway in Germany, a visit to the DB Museums in Nuremberg, which houses a comprehensive collection of railway technology of more than 200 years. The exhibition covers different eras, from the beginning in 1835 with the first route between Nuremberg and Fürth to the railway reform and the foundation of Deutsche Bahn AG 1994.

The railway not only revolutionized travel, but also shaped our society in many ways. Historical pieces, technical devices and the stories of the train drivers and travelers tell of the changes and challenges that the rail ride brought with them. Regardless of whether you are a passionate railway fans or just want to enjoy the feeling of nostalgia - offer the events on Rügen for everyone.

With a good feeling in the stomach, you are looking forward to the next historical trips, which will once again bring the fascination and charm of the railway from the past in summer. It is said that the best way to discover the beauty of Rügen is from the rails - and the proof of the last few days in full splendor.
