Eintracht Frankfurt delights with a charity game: 10,080 euros for a good cause
On September 28, 2025, a charity game took place in Walldorf FR-Schlappekicker took place, which attracted a large audience. Around 700 spectators came to Rot-Weiss Walldorf's artificial turf pitch to watch the duel between the traditional team from Eintracht Frankfurt and the over-40 team from Walldorf. Despite an unfortunate floodlight failure in the second half that interrupted the game, the event was completed with an outstanding donation of 10,080 euros.
The game was an exciting afternoon for everyone involved, with Eintracht leading 4-1 at half-time. Goals were scored by Ervin Skela, Lothar Sippel and Slobodan Komljenovic, while Felix Schmietendorf scored the only goal for Walldorf. In an improvised penalty shootout, which the spectators were able to enjoy as an “encore,” both teams scored seven goals each, which caused additional celebration.
A strong sign of solidarity
Eintracht Frankfurt has supported the Schlappekicker campaign for many years, and Karl-Heinz Körbel acts as its patron. Mayor Mike Josef was also actively involved that day. He wore number 10 and gave his best on the pitch. Before the game, numerous former professionals led a training session with 40 children from the Rot-Weiss Walldorf junior team, which was an unforgettable experience for many young players.
Various auctions of jerseys and shoes contributed to the considerable sum: two Eintracht jerseys, for example, fetched 700 euros, while Mario Götze's kick boots went under the hammer for 500 euros. More than 600 euros came from private donations, including 400 euros from the children's parents and 200 euros from the referee team. An anonymous private citizen from Walldorf even contributed over 2,000 euros to the total.
The social purpose behind sport
The Schlappekicker Club, which was founded in Frankfurt in 1951, pursues the noble goal of supporting athletes in need as well as socially committed club initiatives. Since its founding, over two million euros have been collected in donations that benefit social cohesion through sport. The initiative is an excellent example of how you can raise money for a good cause with firm conviction and fun, in the spirit of social cohesion through sport, just like the Federal Agency for Civic Education determines.
For many of those present, the event ended with a cozy get-together with food and lively conversation. Finally, the floodlight masts lit up again, providing a little light to an event that will be remembered. Sport brings people together, offers social contacts and thus promotes a sense of community like no other platform.
