On Saturday night, the fire department in Schwerin was alerted to a fire on Lise-Meitner-Straße. At around 3:30 a.m., a resident reported that a parked VW Touareg was on fire. The emergency services from the Schwerin professional fire department were quickly on site and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles, but the damage remained significant. Two neighboring cars were significantly damaged by the flames, which estimates the total damage at around 45,000 euros, as reported by nordkurier.de.
The police have already started an investigation into intentional arson. The Schwerin Criminal Investigation Service is active on site and is looking for potential witnesses who can provide information about this incident. When they arrived, the vehicle interior was already fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but police discovered burnt paper and a broken display case near the car, indicating deliberate arson.
Investigators from the Chemnitz criminal police were called in to investigate the incident in more detail. The property damage was estimated at several thousand euros.
