Fabian from Güstrow: Investigators are looking for witnesses to a gruesome crime
On October 10, 2025, eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow tragically disappeared. Today, November 6, 2025, the investigation into his death and the horrific circumstances that led to his disappearance remain ongoing. The police and the public prosecutor's office now have clear evidence that Fabian was killed on the day he disappeared and then dumped in the forest near Klein Upahl. An autopsy-related violent crime case is in the room, as already reported by NDR reported.
It turns out that Fabian, who did not go to school on the day of his disappearance because he was unwell, stayed home alone. By the time his mother returned from work, he had already disappeared, leading to an immediate missing persons call. After several days of intensive searching, Fabian's body was found on October 14, with an autopsy confirming that he was the victim of a violent crime. Authorities believe the crime was committed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the day of the disappearance. To cover up tracks, the boy was probably set on fire reported.
Call for Witnesses and Mourning in the Community
During this particularly difficult time, a memorial service for little Fabian took place last Thursday, where hundreds of people said goodbye. Football teammates released balloons to commemorate him. The investigations by the extended murder squad continue to focus on the site and its surroundings, while numerous emergency services continue to search through large mountains of rubbish. The waste disposal company north of Güstrow was also raided when police wearing protective suits and special equipment arrived there to examine old clothing and other items.
The investigators strongly warn against speculation about possible perpetrators on social media and ask the public to instead report relevant information anonymously. There have been no arrests so far, but the police remain optimistic that they will receive further information, as was the case most recently NDR and In Franconia documented. The community stands together to preserve Fabian's memory and maintain hope that the crime will be solved.
