Eldenaer Jazz Evenings: Enjoy music in a historical setting!

An unforgettable jazz weekend is coming! The Eldena Jazz Evenings invite you to the picturesque Eldena monastery ruins near Greifswald from July 4th to 5th, 2025. This year, jazz lovers can look forward to the 44th edition of the festival, which is known not only for its relaxed atmosphere, but also for its impressive historical backdrop.

Jazz fans from Germany and beyond flock to this event every year, which has been firmly anchored in the cultural scene since 1981. With a varied line-up of international artists and fresh talent, there is something for all tastes. Three concerts will take place over two evenings, starting with the evening sun and ending shortly before midnight with musical fireworks.

Festival program

The opens on Friday, July 4thInsomnia Brass Band, which was awarded the German Jazz Prize in 2023. She is followed by the talented pianistJohanna Summers, known for its technical precision and emotional depth. The conclusion of the first evening isThe Emanias Project. There will be great acts on stage again on Saturday:Crow mobile, conducted by Shogo Seifert, combine string quartet and jazz, followed byRocketand the bandRocket Men, who will delight with their innovative fusion jazz and the unique genre “Drum and Space”.

A very special highlight in addition to the artists mentioned above isSebastian Gahler. He will also appear at the Jazz Evenings and with his“Two Moons Quartet”take the audience into the surreal world of the Japanese best-selling author Haruki Murakami. For his project, Gahler created an album that brings well-known fictional characters to life and translates literary motifs into music - and the best thing about it: you don't necessarily have to know Murakami's works to enjoy the music. He is accompanied by Denis Gäbel (saxophone), Matthias Akeo Nowak (bass) and Ralf Gessler (drums).

Arrival and access

The Eldena monastery ruins can be easily reached by bike or car. It's only 15 minutes from the city center. If you arrive by car, you will find parking spaces at the “Klosterruine”, “Eldena”, “Wieck” and at the lido. Access to the festival site is barrier-free and wheelchair accessible. The entrance is at the ice cream parlor, where doors and the box office open at 6:45 p.m. Visually impaired visitors have the opportunity to secure earlier entry by registering in advance (03834 8536-2101) in order to be able to orientate themselves better.
