Christmas magic in the Vorpommern Theater: Fairytale performances begin!
The pre-Christmas season brings a very special highlight for viewers in northern Germany this year. This starts on November 22nd, 2025 Theater Western Pomerania into the festive season with the popular production of “The Wizard of Oz”. The performances will take place in both Greifswald and Stralsund, which will be a wonderful opportunity for all fans of the magical fairy tale to immerse themselves in the magical world of Oz.
A total of 41 performances are planned in the coming weeks. Particularly exciting: Many of these shows are aimed at school classes and take place in the morning. There are also special family performances, which are rounded off with subsequent autograph sessions from the actors. A real highlight for little visitors!
Diverse Christmas program
But that's not enough! From the 1st of Advent the improv piece “Schöne Bescherung?” brought to the stage. The actors and actresses improvise humorously about the Christmas season and are sure to provide some good laughs. On December 6th the announcement of “The Nutcracker” will follow in Stralsund, while on December 12th the ballet “Alice in Wonderland” will be performed in Greifswald.
A Christmas concert is also on the program for music lovers. Under the direction of conductor David Behnke, visitors can expect a classical experience with romantic sounds and popular film music. Soprano Sina Puffay, the opera choir and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Vorpommern Theater will offer a musical feast for all the senses. The dates for the concert are planned in Greifswald, Stralsund and Putbus.
Cultural enrichment for families
The Western Pomerania Christmas events are not just intended for the little ones. The Vorpommern Theater also offers excellent cultural enrichment for adults in the cold season. At the same time it is worth taking a look at Family concerts the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, which also focuses on getting children and families excited about classical music. These concerts provide interactive insights into the world of music and make it easy for the whole family to discover the fun of music.
