Zirchow on the verge of a traffic revolution: new bypass in sight!
Something is happening in the tranquil community of Zirchow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. Residents have been calling for a bypass to relieve traffic for years. Now things finally seem to be moving. On Friday morning, the state parliament gave the green light to examine a new variant of the planned bypass. This positive signal could be a great relief for residents who have long wanted a solution to the traffic problem. NDR reports that...
The central points of the new proposal stipulate that the Ministry of Transport enters into negotiations with Deutsche Bahn. The aim is to move a section of the railway embankment 30 meters to the south. The new federal highway 110 could run south of Zirchow, parallel to the railway line, without having to build two expensive bridges. This idea is new because the southern bypass was previously ruled out and the northern variant was favored. However, this alternative is met with resistance in Zirchow because it would lead through a moor area and would therefore be problematic.
Opportunities for the region
A bypass road could not only reduce through traffic, but also facilitate access to Heringsdorf Airport and a newly planned settlement in the immediate vicinity of the airport. A large number of residents see the implementation of the southern bypass as an opportunity for the development of their region. If an agreement is reached with Deutsche Bahn and the Federal Railway Authority, the plans could move forward and relieve the burden on the harassed community.
While negotiations are underway, it remains to be seen how quickly concrete steps will be taken. The consent of all parties involved is necessary to make the plans a reality. It remains exciting to see whether Zirchow will soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief when traffic flows without disturbing the peace and quiet of the residents.
