Cap-Markt Güstrow: Moving in prospect – customers are worried about local supplies!
The cap market in Güstrow is currently causing a stir. Rumors about a possible withdrawal from the city center are unsettling customers, especially older people and those without cars who value the market as a social meeting place. However, managing director Björn Kozik has confirmed that although a move is being examined, the presence in the city center remains assured. The Cap market, which has been in Güstrow for 20 years and offers a wide range of regional and seasonal products, sees itself as an important local supplier in the region, as nordkurier.de reports.
However, the current market situation is not ideal. With a sales area of only 306 square meters, space is limited, especially since the infrastructure on the market square makes the situation even more difficult. Deliveries have to be transported through narrow aisles to a small warehouse, which is particularly problematic during market closures and castle renovations. At the moment, the delivery truck can only stop on Mühlenstrasse, which affects the logistics of daily operations.
An open ear for customers
The market primarily attracts students, schoolchildren and administrative employees who quickly shop during their breaks. In the summer months, the absence of many tourists is noticeable, who are staying away this year due to the market closure. Kozik emphasizes that the cap market needs additional space in order to be able to offer an even more diverse range. Similar to an Edeka branch, but without the high prices of sales buses, it is expected to soon delight customers with a wider range of products.
The commitment of the Cap-Markt is also evident at the Christmas market “Advent am Markt”, which took place from December 15th to 21st. The Cap market had its own stand there, where regional products such as sea buckthorn products, honey and fresh eggs were presented. On this occasion, the close connection to the region and the desire to strengthen the local community were emphasized, as cap-markt.de reports.
Support for local supplies in rural areas
The topic of local supply is not just limited to Güstrow. With the “LandVersorge – New ways to provide local supplies in rural areas” initiative, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is supporting various projects that aim to improve supplies for the population. Many rural areas are faced with a dilemma - while the distances to shopping facilities are becoming longer and longer, small shops are often facing economic challenges. These problems do not stop at Güstrow, which underlines the relevance of the cap market and its efforts to provide a better shopping experience, as bmleh.de explains.
With this in mind, it remains to be seen how the plans surrounding the cap market will develop. Discussions with potential investors are already underway and it is hoped that a solution will soon be found that will satisfy both customers and the market itself. In any case, the cap market in Güstrow proves that it is indispensable for the local community and looks to the future with a lot of commitment.
