Progress and delays: Bützows Bahnhofstraße in the construction chaos!

In Bützow, something is finally happening: The new Bahnhofstrasse, which has been blocked for through traffic for almost two years, is progressing with great progress. On behalf of the WAZ, Eurowasser Nord GmbH has been carrying out extensive renovations of the drinking water and dirty water systems as well as the construction of the rainwater collector since July 2023. The traffic has now shifted to the northern part of Bahnhofstrasse, between the level crossing "Wolken" and the bridge over the "lazy ditch". This is a temporary solution that was necessary after the renovation of the northern part in 2022.

Originally, the 2nd construction phase should be completed in March 2025, but the situation has presented itself as a slightly tricky due to unexpected problems. During the work, unforeseen redeployments of district heating, gas, electricity and telecommunications were discovered, which did not correspond to the original plans. Despite these challenges, those responsible are optimistic: the construction project continues to work well, and working with the companies involved works smoothly.

A mixed water sewer system that was previously present was converted into a separation sewage system. Around 270 meters of dirty water canal with a diameter of 400 mm and 25 meters canal with a diameter of 600 mm were laid in depths between 3.20 and 3.90 meters. Elaborate water posture measures were necessary due to the depth of the work. A total of 105 house connections for drinking, dirty and rainwater were renewed. The drinking water supply line has been in operation since February 2025, and a rainwater canal with a separation system has also been successfully built.

The last work is currently pending, the last borders are set and a three -part pendulum channel is built for the drainage of the road surface water. From the 26th calendar week, the lane will begin to asphalt, and the expected completion of the essential work is planned for early August 2025. In autumn 2025, new Allen trees are also to be planted on both sides of the street. The total costs for the 2nd phase of construction amount to around 4 million euros, which is about half a million euros more than originally planned.

But that's not all that is on the plan in Bützow. In 2026, the Andreasseig will be renewed in cooperation with the city of Bützow. With the measures taken, it is important that the water supply not only works, but is also safe.
