Photo competition in Güstrow: Show the old town from your perspective!
An exciting photo competition is on the agenda in the picturesque old town of Güstrow, which is looking for the most beautiful and creative perspectives of this historic city. Under the motto “A special view of the old town,” citizens are invited to submit their best snapshots. The competition runs until June 27th and encourages people to capture Güstrow from extraordinary angles. Nordkurier reports about the fact that both perspectives from the street and funny details on house facades are welcome. The possibility of sending your recordings by email to a special address dangles in the room.
The following applies to young people under 18 years of age: Parents must give their consent so that the great pictures can be sent in. The submitted photographs will be made visible in an exhibition from July 21st to August 29th, and the best images will help create a photo calendar for 2026. On September 14th, Open Monument Day, the 13 pictures with the most votes will be honored. Anyone who wants to take part is only allowed to cast one vote, which can be cast either digitally or in the town hall.
The eye for detail
Another exciting aspect of this competition is the collection of unique moments from city life that show not only the beauty but also the uniqueness of the old town of Güstrow. One principle is that each person is allowed to submit a maximum of three photos, although the images must be in jpg format , says the German Police Union. Therefore, for the photographers: show sensitivity, because in order to be able to award prizes to the best places, a special perspective is required. The top 3 most beautiful photographs will be rewarded with a voucher worth 100, 50 and 25 euros.
When submitting the photos, care is also taken to ensure that the image rights belong to the photographer. The consent of the people depicted for publication is also required. The original photos must be sent as proof of quality and should be at least 1 MB in size in order to benefit from potential publication.
Community and togetherness
In addition, there is another competition for Urban Development Funding Day, which is organized by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction. Under the motto “Living places, strong communities”, this competition encourages communities and supported initiatives to submit exciting motifs that capture togetherness and joint actions , according to the official site. The submission period for this competition runs until June 6, 2025, and the winning photo will be chosen by audience voting.
With all of these creative possibilities, the so-called “think outside the box” is well established in Güstrow, and the city shows that it wants to capture its beauty not only in the past, but also vividly in the present. So if you have a good knack for photography, you should get going quickly and focus on your perspectives of Güstrow's old town.
