International Days in Stralsund: Diversity and opportunities for students!

On June 17, 2025, Stralsund University will be transformed into an international center of knowledge and exchange. As part of the “International Days”, which are taking place in this form for the second time, representatives from around 20 universities from Europe and South America will gather. The event period extends from June 16th to 20th and has the motto “The world visits Stralsund”.

With this event, the organizers are focusing on diversity and intercultural dialogue. Stralsund University invites students, university employees, schoolchildren and anyone interested to a colorful program. Caroline Neumann, head of the International Office, is convinced that this event will not only make the university but also the city more lively and highlight numerous international opportunities.

Diverse activities and highlights

Particular highlights of the International Days are the stands of the partner universities, which draw attention to their offerings in the cafeteria forecourt and give visitors insights into their study and research offerings. The participating universities include institutions from countries such as Chile, the Azores, Italy and Croatia, which underlines the international nature of the event.

Another exciting item on the program is the international barbecue, which will take place on Thursday afternoon. Here, participants can exchange ideas over culinary delicacies and make new contacts. The event expects a variety of lectures and in-house trade fairs, where information about financing options for stays abroad will be provided, especially on programs such as Erasmus+.

Focusing on EUNICoast

With a special focus on the EUNICoast partner universities, the importance of international cooperation in education becomes clear. EUNICoast is a European university alliance, funded by the European Commission, with the aim of creating a common European educational area and improving international competitiveness. This partnership involves 13 universities from all over Europe, including institutions from the French Antilles and the Åland Islands.

The International Days offer an excellent opportunity to promote intercultural exchange and show prospects for stays abroad. The country presentations of the international partner universities, which will take place on June 17th at 10 a.m. in House 5 - Lecture Hall 1, are particularly interesting. Further program elements include information events on applying for stays abroad, which will take place in both German and English. These initiatives not only benefit students, but also support a growing network of international university collaborations, which is of great importance for the future of the university landscape.

A look at the developments shows that German universities are increasingly becoming internationally oriented, also in accordance with the code for German university projects abroad. These strategies help to strengthen and develop study opportunities abroad.
