Ludwigslust is calling for a big photo campaign: 150 years in focus!

There is reason to celebrate in Ludwigslust! Next year, more precisely 2026, the city will celebrate its 150th anniversary. Preparations for a great celebration are already in full swing, and residents are also invited to take part in these celebrations. On July 1st at 12 p.m. there will be a special event on Schlossplatz: the number 150 will be formed out of people. How Northern Courier reports, Nancy Stollenwerk from the city administration is leading the organization for this city anniversary, and around 800 students have already registered to take part.

But it's not just students who are part of this campaign. Daycare centers, members of the senior citizens' advisory board and city administration employees have also confirmed their attendance. To capture the special aerial photo event, photographer Ralf Drefin will use a drone to take the picture from above. Since the drone's battery only lasts 45 minutes, thorough preparation is necessary to ensure everything runs smoothly. This photo could even serve as the cover for the anniversary brochure and be used to advertise the city's anniversary.

A colorful program for everyone

The planned program for the anniversary year promises a lot of variety. In addition to the aerial photography campaign mentioned, many other events are being planned. This includes a parade and several festival days, with the Linden Festival this year having the motto “Our city through the ages”. This festival will also be a highlight of the celebrations. The anniversary ball has been scheduled for February 28, 2026, and the anticipation of the diverse events can already be felt in the city.

Anniversaries are also a big topic in the region. For example, in the same year there is a special festival in Flecken, Baden-Württemberg: Here, 750 years of city rights are celebrated after King Rudolf of Habsburg granted them in 1276. Extensive preparations have already been made for this by the city administration and a festival week with a state meeting of the historical citizen guards and city guards is on the program. Swabian reports an estimated cost of 300,000 euros, and the plans include a marquee that will stand on the festival site for over a week.

Cities in an anniversary frenzy

2026 will be a year of city anniversaries across Germany. In addition to Ludwigslust and Menges, many other cities celebrate special occasions. These include, for example, the Home Days, which will take place in bulk from July 10th to 13th, 2026, and a variety of events that will be spread throughout the year. The city's anniversaries are not only a reason to celebrate, they also offer the opportunity to rediscover the city's history and cultural roots. Loud CitiesDay Many cities are busy coming to terms with their past and looking to the future.

Overall, it can be said: 2026 will be a year full of memories, celebratory events and shared pride for Ludwigslust and many other cities in Germany. Preparations are already in full swing and the celebrations promise to be remembered for a long time!
