Blumberg celebrates new 280-meter road: 1.6 million euros invested!
In the municipality of Casekow, an important road project has finally come to a successful conclusion. The modernized Blumberg through-road will be officially opened on September 3rd. A festive occasion at which District Administrator Karina Dörk (CDU) and District Director Karin Krapalies will symbolically present the new street in the presence of residents and interested parties. Loud Northern Courier spans the expanded stretch of district road K 7308, known as Schönower Straße, a length of around 280 meters and at the same time brings important improvements for local residents.
With a budget of around 1.6 million euros, funding from the state of Brandenburg flowed into the project, which was implemented as a joint measure between the Uckermark district, the Gartz (Oder) office and the Ostuckermärkische Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Association (ZOWA). The construction work was carried out by the Strassen- und Tiefbaugesellschaft mbH Ernst Röwer from Pasewalk, while the engineering firm GAST from Schwedt/Oder was responsible for planning and construction supervision.
High-quality improvements for Blumberg
The redesigned road not only provides an improved roadway; it also includes numerous infrastructural upgrades. A modern street drainage system was installed and a receiving pipe with a sedimentation system as well as a retention basin and an infiltration area were created. These measures contribute to the drainage of the heavily used route and at the same time ensure protection against flooding.
In addition, some community streets, such as Schönower Straße and Wartiner Straße, were also renovated. There will also be new bus stops and sidewalks at key stops, significantly improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Tantower already reported on the planned renovation measures, which are intended to ensure rapid implementation through transparently communicated traffic restrictions and time constraints.
Sustainable mobility in focus
Financing the construction project is part of a larger strategy that emerges from the directive to promote investments in municipal road construction in Brandenburg. This was set on May 16, 2024 and aims to support the municipal road construction authorities in achieving the 2030 mobility strategy. The focus is on adapting important transport connections and improving the infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. Details can be found on the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Planning here.
In summary, it can be said that this project will not only improve the quality of life of Blumberg's citizens, but can also make a valuable contribution to infrastructural development and road safety. So if you have time on September 3rd, you shouldn't miss this opportunity for the celebratory opening.
