Dragon boat spectacle in the outdoor pool: 15 teams fight for victory!

On Saturday, June 28th, the eagerly awaited 2nd dragon boat spectacle took place in the Friedland outdoor swimming pool. The event, which took place amidst bright sunshine and happy faces, saw the number of participating teams increase from eleven to fifteen in total. Regional companies, clubs and the Friedland city administration came together to paddle with each other and fight for victory. The Nordkurier reports of a great atmosphere, which was perfectly rounded off by speeches and the musical start of a fanfare.

The exciting competition was organized on a tug-of-war basis, with two teams paddling against each other. The best four teams of the day were: 1st place: “Windkraft 8” (Energy), 2nd place: “Schneckenflitzer” (Schönhof Salow), 3rd place: “Teichdrachen” (REAX Transporte) and 4th place: “Screensaver” (Friedland city administration).

Additional attractions and good mood

But the dragon boat spectacle was not the only attraction. An air mattress race took place on the sidelines, to which visitors to the outdoor pool were also invited. The organizer of the event, Sabine von Ahsen, head of the TSV Friedland office, was pleased with the successful collaboration and the sense of community that prevailed in Friedland that day.

The following day, June 29th, there are further events on the program. The charity concert “Klassik in Dorfkirchen 2025” begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Wichmannsdorf village church, where music and poetry invite you to smile and think. The proceeds are used, among other things, to promote musical work with children and young people. Admission is free, but visitors are welcome to donate. Upcoming highlights in the Uckermark

The Uckermark also has some exciting highlights in store in the coming days. On July 3rd there will be a reading group in the old community center in Strasburg. On July 5th, the village flea market in Nechlin will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on the same day the community festival in Roga will start at 2 p.m. with a colorful program. And there are numerous cultural and festive events such as the Medieval Evening at the Pasterhof or the Lübbenow village festival that will be on the calendar in the next few weeks.
