FC Neubrandenburg secures its first win of the season with Abraham's goal!

On August 31, 2025, 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 was finally able to score its first three points of the season in the association football league. The team won 3-2 in an exciting match against Güstrower SC and showed that they are ready to prevail despite personnel problems. Player-coach Daniel Nawotke was more than satisfied with his boys' performance after they took the initiative right from the start and determined the pace of the game Northern Courier reported.

The first cheers are unmistakable! Luca Seifert gave FCN a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute after a rebound found the tip of his foot. Just three minutes later, Wout Abrahams was fouled in the penalty area and Philipp Sundt converted the penalty to make it 2-0. But Güstrower SC didn't wait long and scored the next goal in the 41st minute, which didn't upset the home team. Even after halftime, Neubrandenburg remained dominant in the game, but were unable to extend their lead. In the 60th minute, Güstrow equalized to make it 2-2, which revealed FCN's defensive weaknesses.

The decisive hit

However, the FCN was not discouraged. In the 72nd minute it was Maximilian Voß who hit the decisive cross, which Wout Abrahams converted to make it 3-2. The fast striker has already scored two goals in two games and has developed into a key person in the team. The FCN line-up was: Haack – Seifert (60th Freyer), Nawotke, Schröder, Voß, T. Schmidt, Abrahams, Kruse, Witte, Bychkiv (76th D. Schmidt), Sundt (60th Scholich).

The club's sporting development has experienced some ups and downs in recent years. Founded on July 1, 2004, 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 was created from the merger of the clubs FC Tollense Neubrandenburg and SV Nevag Neubrandenburg. Despite initial difficulties and relegation to the regional league, the club has continued to develop. Since then, the Neubrandenburgers have celebrated several runner-up finishes in the association league and are aiming for a return to the top league, as stated on the club's official website 1FCNeubrandenburg04.de can be read.

A piece of club history

The roots of the club go back to the post-war period, when former footballers from SC Neubrandenburg 22 came together and founded SG “Fritz Reuter” Neubrandenburg in 1947. The history of football in Neubrandenburg is marked by numerous name changes, successes and setbacks. A highlight was promotion to the GDR Oberliga in 1964, which was supported by large crowds of fans. Even after the fall of the Wall, the club remained active and was able to take part in competitions under various names until 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 was re-founded in 2004.

With a membership of around 800 and the goal of asserting itself in the league, the FCN is on the right track. Youth work has proven to be very successful and should continue to form the basis for positive development in the coming years. The club has also turned to the women's footballers of the FFV and supported their promotion of young talent, which shows that 1. FC Neubrandenburg 04 is more than just a football club.

Here’s to an exciting season and hopefully many more successful games!
