On Friday evening, November 21, 2025, a fire broke out on the viewing platform in the Broda Landscape Park in Neubrandenburg. Residents noticed a bright fire at around 8 p.m. and immediately alerted the Neubrandenburg fire department. When they arrived, several wooden seats were on fire, requiring quick action.
However, it wasn't easy for the fire brigade: Due to the impassable terrain, direct access with the fire engines was not possible. Therefore, the emergency services had to reach the fire site on foot with the necessary equipment. Fire extinguishers and bucket sprayers were quickly resorted to, and the fire was brought under control within a few minutes. Luckily there were no injuries, but the wooden seating was badly damaged. The police have now started an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is still unclear. Nordkurier reports.

On January 21, 2025, a few months earlier, the Neubrandenburg fire department already had to cope with a challenging operation. At 4:30 p.m., the rescue control center of the Mecklenburg Lake District was alerted to a fire on Einsteinstrasse. Heavy smoke came from the 7th floor of an apartment building. In this case, 30 people had to be evacuated, but as in the current incident, thank God there were no injuries. The fire, which was caused by rubbish in a storage room, caused material damage of around 5,000 euros, which led to the investigation by the criminal police.
