Together against cancer: charity run in Neubrandenburg on September 14th!
On September 14, 2025, the Visceral Oncology Center fundraising run at the DBK will take place for the second time in Neubrandenburg. Under the motto “We Beat Cancer” (WBC), the organizers are committed to supporting cancer patients, especially those suffering from colon, stomach and pancreatic cancer. This campaign aims to promote an important project: the expansion of a rest and relaxation room for patients. The run starts at 9 a.m. in the town hall, and starting numbers will be distributed from 7:30 a.m.
The day starts with a bambini run for the youngest children aged 3 to 8, which starts at 9.30 a.m., followed by the runs for teenagers and adults from 10 a.m. Participants can look forward to different running distances of 5 km, 8 km and 12 km, while walking over 5 km is also possible. In all races, the time is measured using transponders on the start numbers. And after the sporting part, an award ceremony, music and a children's program await those present, making the day a colorful experience for young and old. The event is organized by the Visceral Oncology Center and the Seenplatte-Events association, who are making great efforts to mobilize a large number of participants to show solidarity and hope in the fight against cancer. Further information and the possibility to register can be found here.
Background information about cancer
The fates of cancer patients like Anja L. shed light on the challenges that many of those affected are faced with. At the age of 30, she was newly married and had just a 4-month-old son when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. This diagnosis brought not only health concerns but also financial concerns. Many patients who are no longer able to work due to their illness face similar challenges, and the burden also affects their families. The Patient Aid for Colon Cancer has made it its mission to offer support to these people and their relatives. The importance of donations that can help in such cases is particularly emphasized.
In order to advance cancer research, financial support is essential. The German Cancer Aid is the largest private donor for cancer research in Germany. In the last financial year, 2022, around 73.3 million euros were made available for new projects through donations from the public. These funds flow into basic research, clinical cancer research and health services research, which shows how important it is to show solidarity and run for a good cause - be it at the charity run in Neubrandenburg or through personal contributions.
Every step that the participants take during the charity run in Neubrandenburg counts. They not only collect sportsmanship, but also hope for those they leave behind - a sign of solidarity in the fight against cancer. When you do sport, you celebrate together, sweat, and maybe even have some joy, but the most important thing remains the message: Together we are strong!
