Creepy creativity: Youth media festival celebrates 30 years in Latücht!

In Neubrandenburg the signs point to creativity and exciting media experiences! This year's youth media festival, which can look back on a proud 30 years, will take place from July 2nd to 4th at the Latücht cinema. Project manager Hanna Bührig and her team have come up with a lot of ideas to properly celebrate this anniversary. A highlight are the over 60 submissions that come from various cities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and cover a wide range of topics and formats. Bührig describes the contributions as “loud, creative and scary” and promises a diverse program for all age groups.

A large part of the festival is the youth video competition “The Big Mouth”, which is sponsored by Nordkurier. 33 entries compete against each other, ranging from one-minute clips to 20-minute short films. These exciting works are evaluated by an expert jury who place a particular focus on creativity and inventiveness. The participants are between 5 and 25 years old and bring a breath of fresh air and creative approaches to the competitions.

Program and competitions

The program is diverse and offers something for everyone. On July 2nd, the “Hands-Free Speakers” radio competition and the “Podcast made easy” workshop are scheduled. The latter shows how you can produce a podcast yourself using simple means. On July 3rd, the school video competition “Video makes school” and the screening of the film “Mels Block”, which starts at 6 p.m., will follow. After the film, a conversation with the director and cast invites you to exchange ideas.

The last day of the festival, July 4th, is dedicated to the “The Big Mouth” video competition. Here it is presented in different blocks, the third block is also scary - in this particular section the works shown may not be suitable for children under 13 years of age. The awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m., followed by an after-show party that is sure to put you in a good mood.

A film with heart

The film “Mels Block” will captivate viewers with its touching story. It tells about the protagonist Mel, who grew up in her old apartment block and is now trying to process her memories of the past. With a mix of nostalgia and the pursuit of new beginnings, the film addresses many emotional themes and gives an authentic insight into the challenges of growing up.

The youth media festival not only offers the opportunity to admire the creative work of young media designers, but also exciting discussions and workshops. The team around Hanna Bührig is looking forward to welcoming everyone interested to the Latücht cinema and celebrating this anniversary appropriately. A surprise appearance at the awards ceremony on July 4th also promises a special highlight in the supporting program. It remains to be seen which creative ideas and talents will delight audiences this year. Northern Courier and Latücht already give a promising foretaste!
