New acting director Czesienski inspires with a fresh theater concept!
David Czesienski leads the acting ensemble into an exciting new season. With a fresh concept and almost weekly premieres, he wants to sustainably inspire audiences and enrich theater life in Neubrandenburg and Neustrelitz.
Czesienski, born in 1985 and a native of East Berlin, studied directing at the “Ernst Busch” Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. After numerous productions at renowned theaters, including the Theater Magdeburg and the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, he is now taking the reins in Neustrelitz. In his directing collective “Prinzip Gonzo”, which he founded with talented colleagues, the focus is on interactive exchange. The aim is clear: a broad audience should be addressed with complex stories that arouse curiosity and stimulate thought.
Innovative game program
The first productions of the new ensemble include the famous comedy “The Broken Jug” and the new development “AktivIstMuss”. The next premiere, “Romeo and Juliet”, is scheduled for October 3rd. With a modern translation of Shakespeare, Czesienski aims to highlight the timeless relevance of these classic themes and make them tangible for today's audiences.
Czesienski's approach to upcoming productions is full of excitement. He brings together both experienced and new members of the ensemble to promote a breath of fresh air and a willingness to experiment. “Curiosity is at the heart of my work,” he emphasizes. This attitude is also reflected in the other planned pieces, including “Friends Was Yesterday” (start: October 9th) and “The Golden Key” (start: December 5th).
The meaning of Eastern identity
Czesienski has also decided to incorporate East German identity into his game plan. This topic is not only dealt with in current pieces, but also reinterpreted in classic works. Other productions that will enrich the schedule include “Three East German women get drunk and found the ideal state” (from January 24th) and “To be or not to be” (from February 20th).
Czesienski's focus on personal responsibility in the theater is particularly impressive. He invites artists whose styles are different and who are able to do things that he himself cannot. This creates a dynamic and lively theater landscape in which ideas and creativity can flow.
In the theater world, David Czesienski is certainly a name to remember. His talent, both as a director and as a writer and performer, has already brought him several awards and festival participation, including at the Impatience Festival in Paris with his project “Timon/Titus”.
Overall, it shows that the new paths that Czesienski is taking have the potential to revitalize theater in the region and appeal to a broad target group. Viewers can look forward to a season full of creative surprises and contemporary themes that will provide a breath of fresh air in cultural life.
