Paula Huth from Rostock wins silver at triathlon championships!

An exciting weekend for the triathletes from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: At the German Triathlon Championships in Roth, athlete Paula Huth from TC Fiko Rostock was able to show a fantastic performance and secure the silver medal in the female youth A category. Part of the top group from the start, Huth only had to admit defeat to Rebecca Adam from Saarland. Her coach Jan Müller was enthusiastic about Huth's swimming and cycling achievements and emphasized that she is one of the younger generation in her age group. These are achievements that are worth seeing!

In addition, Huth achieved bronze place in the overall ranking of the DTU Cup competitions with her second place in Roth. This makes her one of the up-and-coming talents in German triathlon. But it wasn't just Huth who was in action: Tia-Jolie Lüder from SCN unfortunately had to retire due to an injury, which had a negative impact on the team ranking. Her teammate Frida Nitschke was still able to shine and took twentieth place in the female youth A category.

Ready, set, go!

But the male triathletes from the region also gave their all. Anton Lange from Rostock achieved a solid eighth place among 40 starters. Enno Freyhof from TC FIKO came 19th and Fynn-Niklas Böhrs from Neubrandenburg 26th. In the team ranking, it was very close for the team from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: They ended up in fourth place, only four hundredths of a second behind the team from Baden-Württemberg. This is a real head-to-head race!

Jannes Gonschorek from SCN also showed a strong performance and came 16th in the male youth A category, fulfilling the state squad standard for 2026. Sebastian Gundlach came 20th and Birk Bült, who struggled with side stitches while running, came 35th. In the male youth A team ranking, the trio from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania came eighth.

A look at the next generation

Speaking of youth: Greta Ewald was the only starter from MV among the juniors and took 21st place. The Youth B competition takes place in five weeks and the athletes still have time to prepare optimally for the finals in Dresden at the beginning of August. This gives us hope that some talent will blossom here too!

The German Triathlon Union (DTU) has been promoting the sport since it was founded in 1985. Triathlon events have become increasingly popular in Germany in recent years, with around 600 events annually. A visibly growing interest is reflected not only in the increasing number of participants, but also in the large number of events that have been held since the first competitions in the Federal Republic in 1982. Triathlon has now established itself as a permanent fixture in the sport, also thanks to prominent athletes such as Jan Frodeno, who won Olympic gold in 2008.

With these successes, the triathletes from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are leaving a lasting impression. The path to the next championships has been paved and all eyes are excited about the upcoming events!
