Shell construction for the new fire department building in Neverin is completed!
A promising project is taking shape in the small community of Neverin. The shell of the new fire building has now been completed and roof work will begin soon. Current mayor Nico Klose, who was sworn in as mayor of Neubrandenburg in June, describes the construction project as a crucial investment in the future of the village. “This is really a good step for our community,” said Klose during the topping-out ceremony, which has already taken place.
The topping out ceremony was a solemn moment during which Klose and military leader Daniel Brandenburg symbolically hammered a nail into the wood. It not only shows the progress of the construction project, but also the community's commitment to a modern fire department infrastructure.
A building for everyone
The new fire department building combines several important functions: It not only serves as an operations center for the fire department, but also houses community rooms. These are necessary because the old building in which the fire engine was housed no longer meets the requirements. The new home for the fire department is particularly important because the fire engine was too big for the old vehicle hall. In addition, the personnel carrier was previously stored in another garage.
The police force will also move into the new building with a vehicle. A new command vehicle is scheduled to be delivered next week. The concept of the new building also includes modern meeting rooms, larger changing rooms, a kitchen and two offices, one for the mayor and the other for the military commander.
Funding and support
The total cost of this stately building is 1.5 million euros. The financing comes from a combination of funding: 700,000 euros come from the district, 300,000 euros from the state and 500,000 euros from the municipality of Neverin. This support is an example of government assistance provided for the procurement of vehicles and the construction or renovation of fire stations. According to Bayern.de, cities and municipalities are responsible for fire protection and technical assistance services and can benefit from these funding. It is important to mention that only projects that have not yet started will be funded.
The interior work, including laying pipes and electrical installation, begins immediately after the shell construction is completed. Completion of the building is targeted for summer 2026. This offers the community the opportunity to soon move into a modern and well-equipped fire station that meets not only current but also future requirements.
In this way, the municipality of Neverin shows that it has a good knack for not only modernizing its fire department, but also strengthening the community at the same time. An approach that has proven itself in many small communities and shows that progress can go hand in hand with tradition.
