Serious accident on B109: Two injured and long traffic jam!

A serious traffic accident on the B 109 between Blindow and Dauer caused significant traffic disruptions on October 28th. As the Uckermark Kurier reports, two people were seriously injured in the incident. At around 12.45 p.m., the rescue control center informed the police, who arrived immediately and investigated the situation.

A 28-year-old driver of a Ford Ranger and a 27-year-old driver of a Renault Megane were involved. Both men had to be treated in hospitals in Schwedt and Neubrandenburg after the accident. The exact circumstances that led to the accident are currently unclear and the East Police Department has begun an investigation.

Traffic jams and full closures

The federal highway was temporarily completely closed in both directions due to the rescue and recovery work, which led to a traffic jam that lasted almost an hour. The route was only reopened to traffic at around 1:50 p.m. Another serious accident occurred at the same time on the B109, where a van ran into oncoming traffic between Anklam and Neu Kosenow.

This incident resulted in six injuries, including four adults and two children. The injured had to be treated in hospitals in Ueckermünde and Anklam. A van collided with two cars there, which led to the road being completely closed again.

Cause and amount of damage

The possible cause of the accident was attributed to a flat tire on the van and the estimated total damage is around 40,000 euros. Shortly after the accident, traffic was diverted past the accident vehicles in a single lane, but here too the road was later completely closed so that the vehicles could be recovered. The Nordkurier reported in detail on the most critical details of this incident.

The sad events on the B 109 show once again how quickly the situation in road traffic can change. Local authorities ask all road users to exercise particular caution and ensure their safety and that of others.
