Scandalous noise pollution: Bundeswehr soldiers celebrate after 10 p.m.!

On a small street in Fünfeichen, a solemn group of 20 people causes excitement among the residents. According to the Nordkurier, it is mainly the loud music that disturbs the peace in the neighborhood. “This is scandalous noise pollution,” complains an affected neighbor who contacted the editorial team and reported repeated disruptions to his evening rest. The celebrating neighbors live in a Bundeswehr dormitory, which mainly houses participants in training courses and has a capacity of 100 beds.

The angry neighbor turned to the soldiers, but instead of showing consideration for the residents, they apparently turned up the music even louder. “The Bundeswehr should observe the rest times!” he appeals and calls for more understanding for the residents. The responsible Bundeswehr, on the other hand, emphasizes that the statutory night rest period is observed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and that soldiers are regularly instructed to avoid noise. Despite this information, the Bundeswehr says there have been no written complaints on this topic in recent years. However, the neighbor is surprised because he claims to have made several complaints himself, which could not be heard, especially because no one responded at the entrance to the station in the evening.

But what about the legal framework? According to the current regulations, the night's rest is a legal obligation that is intended to ensure harmonious coexistence. It runs from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is intended to offer people a protected space for relaxation. Loud noises should be avoided during this time. Violations of these regulations can have legal consequences, as unacceptable noise is anchored in the Administrative Offenses Act (OWiG) and can result in penalties of up to 5,000 euros, as explained on NDR.

The residents in Fünfeichen now want not only the legal regulations to be adhered to, but also a mutual understanding to be promoted. Observing the night's rest should apply not only to the soldiers in the dormitory, but also to everyone else who lives in the neighborhood. Peaceful coexistence would be beneficial for everyone and could possibly avoid conflicts and disputes. Consideration and understanding are also central points that should contribute to harmonious coexistence.

The neighbor's appeal to the Bundeswehr makes it clear that the residents are striving for a solution and hope that their complaints will be heard. Perhaps those responsible should also rethink the contact options for residents so that exchanges become easier and residents do not have any difficulties in raising their concerns in the future. In the hope of harmonious coexistence, it is to be hoped that the noise pollution will soon be a thing of the past and that peace and quiet can return to Fünfeichen.
