Triathlon heroes: Greta Ewald & Anton Lange win in Rostock!

On July 14, 2025 it was that time again: The 40th Rostock Triathlon took place in the IGA Park, and the anticipation was great. Organized by TC FIKO, the event represented a colorful mix of sporting ambition and community spirit. The water temperature in the Warnow was a pleasant 19.6 degrees Celsius, which made the conditions ideal for the participants.

A total of 95 participants took part in the school and youth classes. The super sprint, in which 54 participants gathered, was particularly exciting. 155 individual starters and 21 relay teams registered for the short distance, which once again demonstrated the diversity and interest in this sport. nordkurier.de reports that ...

Young talent at the top

In the juniors, Greta Ewald from SC Neubrandenburg and Anton Lange from TC FIKO triumphed and secured the title of the “pure” Rostock triathlon. Ewald, who initially started the race 27 seconds behind Malin Sitzmann (TCO “Die Bären”), overtook her and finally crossed the finish line with a lead of 23 seconds. Clara Kirchhoff (FIKO) also showed a strong performance and came third.

In the boys' category, the fastest male youth A swimmer, Birk Bült (SC Neubrandenburg), got into the races quickly and did an excellent job, but missed out on first place and came second.

Regional league and exciting competitions

Another highlight was the “point game” of the Regionalliga Nord, in which 12 women’s and 13 men’s teams competed. The TC FIKO is well represented and was in third place in the men's regional league before the last change. With Enno Freyhof's fastest race split, the team closed within two seconds of the leaders in Oldenburg. The battle for the placings was exciting here too.

The competition attracted a remarkable number of participants, which has not always been the case in recent years. There are around 600 triathlon events with more than 1,500 competitions in Germany. The largest event, the ITU World Triathlon Series in Hamburg, attracts around 10,000 participants every year and delights over 250,000 spectators. leidenschaft-triathlon.de provides additional information…

The individual entry fees varied depending on the age group and registration time. For example, students D only paid 8 euros until the end of April, while the price for the short distance started at 45 euros.
