Circus Princess delights 12,500 – Neustrelitz celebrates theater hit!
The Theater and Orchestra GmbH (TOG) Neubrandenburg/Neustrelitz celebrated a great success with its production of the operetta “The Circus Princess”. Over 12,000 enthusiastic spectators came to Neustrelitz Castle Gardens from July 18th to August 9th for a total of 13 performances. With an audience of just under 12,500, this represents an impressive increase of 13.6 percent compared to the previous year, when there were 11,000 visitors NMZ reports.
The story of “The Circus Princess” tells of intrigue in St. Petersburg and a happy ending in Vienna, where the aerial acrobat Mister X and Princess Fedora Palinska are the focus. The production was enriched by the talented circus artist Lea Toran Jenner (“ZirkusLea”), who captivated the audience with her acrobatics. In addition, a circus rider and his horse as well as an impressive fireworks display added to the festive setting of the evening performances, as shown on Strelitzius can be read.
Positive overall balance for the season
In addition to the “Circus Princess,” the festival summer also included numerous other events that thrilled the audience. Around 2,600 spectators came to performances such as “Bastien and Bastienne”, the children's play “Poseidon and the Plastic Sea” and the elements circle “Fire, Water, Air”, which was presented by the German Dance Company Neustrelitz. Other highlights were the “Orchestra Mice” family concert in the Tiergarten and the “Udo Jürgens Tribute Show”. In total, the Neustrelitz Festival Summer 2025 recorded around 15,100 visitors, clear evidence of the enriching offerings of the TOG.
Overall, the 2024/2025 season ended with 105,930 spectators, which corresponds to an increase of 1.8 percent compared to the previous season. Such positive figures are particularly encouraging at a time when many theaters and orchestras are struggling with challenges such as the energy crisis and the effects of the war in Ukraine, as the [Bühnenverein reports.
Current statistics show an emerging trend in the theater landscape, as the number of events has increased by around 15% compared to pre-corona levels. The number of visitors also increased by 64% compared to the previous year and a total of 22.4 million visits to theaters and orchestras were counted.
