Neustrelitz Concert Choir is looking for male voices for a summer taster rehearsal!

The Neustrelitz concert choir is looking for new male voices and invites all music-loving men to join the choir. At a taster rehearsal on July 8th at 7 p.m. in the Heinrich Schliemann Hall of the district music school, those interested will have the opportunity to experience the community and the music up close. The choir director, Benjamin Arlt-Bouffée, and the pianist Rico Gatzke provide a warm atmosphere and support to promote the joy of singing.

Especially now that the warm season is approaching, the Neustrelitz Concert Choir attaches particular importance to a sonic journey through spring and summer. Next Sunday, June 28th, the choir invites you to the final summer concert at 4 p.m. in the Diakoniezentrum Borwinheim, Bruchstrasse. The motto of the concert promises musical travel experiences that take listeners into a world of warm days and mild summer evenings. Admission is free and solo contributions and a vocal quartet will also be presented.

Choir singing in Neustrelitz

Since its founding in 1970, the Konzertchor Neustrelitz e.V. association has developed a colorful and diverse membership base, which currently includes almost 50 singers. The members are divided into different groups such as alto, soprano, bass and tenor, with the youngest singer being only 33 years old and the oldest singer already in his late eighties. The choir therefore represents a broad age structure in which musical motivation and communal exchange are the focus.

The regular rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening in the Heinrich Schliemann Hall. In addition to singing in multiple voices and learning fine musical details, warm-up and relaxation exercises are also integrated into the program. These practices are important for caring for the voice and optimizing the quality of the choral sound. The choir is currently working on the piece “The Early Spring,” which will be presented at the next concert.

The importance of choir singing

Choral singing not only has a musical component, but also contributes to social coherence. Singing in choirs promotes long-term bonds between members, which has been proven by various studies. Around 60% of those surveyed in one study had no formal singing training, but often already had experience in school choirs. This highlights how important choral singing is as a social and cultural practice and how it brings people together.

With the desire for more male singers, the Neustrelitz Concert Choir wants to strengthen the balance in the choir and further expand a varied repertoire that ranges from classical pieces to modern pop songs. The long-standing members are particularly looking forward to a breath of fresh air and new voices that will enrich the community.

The trial rehearsal on July 8th offers an ideal opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of choral singing and perhaps soon become part of this lively community that not only shares the joy of music, but also strengthens social relationships within the group.
