35 years of FAL: Wangelin celebrates a blooming future with Joachim Król!
A very special anniversary was celebrated in Wangelin on the second weekend in August. The association for the promotion of appropriate economic and ecological living conditions west of Lake Plauer, also known as FAL, celebrated its 35th anniversary. Under the motto “We can do things differently,” a diverse program was offered that took visitors into the world of sustainable gardening and nature conservation-oriented projects. This is reported by the Northern Courier.
A highlight of the celebrations was the cult film star Joachim Król, whose famous film coined the title of the festival. He spoke to Klaus Hirrich about the changes in the region after reunification and signed a copy of his out-of-print book for Annette Schickert, who has worked at the Wangeliner Garten cinema for two decades. This appreciation for many years of commitment was greeted with applause by many participants.
Festive surprises
The ceremony at which Mayor Jens Tiemer presented a grant for 15,000 euros for the roof renovation of the clay house was particularly beautiful. This is another step towards revitalizing the region and supporting FAL's environmentally friendly projects. The cornucopia presented in celebration included not only financial donations, but also a sunflower commemorating the more than 50,000 trees planted by the association.
In his greeting, Klaus Baumgart from the Plau office acknowledged the outstanding achievements of the FAL and admitted the initial skepticism associated with the founding of the association. نم خلال فيلم وثائقي للمخرج هندريك سيلبرمان، تم عرض الأعمال التي قام بها النادي على مر السنين.
A look at the future
A central topic of the discussions was the generational change in the club. The club founders discussed the protests against the military training area in Retzower Heide and how important it is to win young people like those at the distillery in Ganzlin for future projects. In order to make the landscape sustainable, the FAL is planning to transform the Wangeliner Garden into an insect-friendly climate garden, which is also an initiative that strengthens the connection to the environment.
The evening ended with live music from fanfare “um:laut” and DJ “an:ton”, and visitors had the opportunity to once again properly celebrate the successes of the past 35 years. The various events not only focused attention on the past, but also on the upcoming challenges and opportunities that the FAL would like to master.
In the panel discussion it became clear that different views of the environment, as described by the biologist Jakob von Uexküll, also play a role in the club's activities. Our ideas about the environment and how we perceive it influence what we consider important and how we can act in our community. Exciting discussions about this show that exchange and learning are an important part of the FAL's commitment to ensuring a thriving region in the future.
Such a committed community shows that it is not just about entertainment, but also about awareness, sustainability and teamwork - values that are highly valued at FAL and are crucial for future generations.
