Ballet evening Time to Love”: An ode to love in Parchim!

There is great anticipation for the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater's season highlight: the ballet performance “Time to Love” will take place in the Kulturmühle Parchim on July 12th and 13th, 2025. After the sold-out premiere, the performances are just around the corner and show an impressive play with the facets of love. Emotional power, social connection and poetic expression are the focus of the choreography.

The choreographic direction was taken over by the award-winning Lucia Giarratana, who won, among other things, the jury prize at the Concours de Jeunes Chorégraphes de Ballet in Biarritz. The piece “Omnia Vincit Amor” is presented under her direction, which interprets love as a transformative force and interweaves the themes of passion, reflection and transience. The choreographer combines psychology and dance therapy in her work, with a focus on the physical articulation of emotions.

A dialogue between tones

The audience will also meet Ilya Vidrin on stage. The international artist is not only a choreographer, but also a researcher and teaches at renowned institutions such as Harvard University and the Juilliard School. In his work “WITH or WITHOUT” he explores the different expressions of love and draws inspiration from Mendelssohn’s “Songs without Words”. His pieces deal intensively with interpersonal responsibility and the ethical dimension of physical closeness.

Both choreographies in “Time to Love” are in dialogue with each other and illuminate different aspects of love: from emotional closeness to longing and the deep, sometimes contradictory power that lies in interpersonal relationships. In this way, the performance becomes the expression of an emotional journey that will captivate the audience.

Ballet has gone through many changes in its long history, from the strong influence of women in the 19th century to the development of pointe dancing, which now plays a central role in dance technique. How the ballet reflects the themes of love and passion over time remains exciting. The performance “Time to Love” is a further step within this fascinating tradition and shows how art and emotion collide.
