Serious accident near Groß Plasten: rescue workers on duty!

There was a serious traffic accident on Sunday evening at the intersection of district road 30 and federal road 194 north of Groß Plasten, which resulted in several injuries. As nordkurier.de reports, the accident happened around 6:10 p.m. when a Seat with five passengers drove into the intersection area without braking and ignored the right of way of a BMW. The impact was so severe that the Seat was thrown into an adjacent field, while the BMW was turned 180 degrees and finally came to a stop in the turning lane of the oncoming lane.

Luckily, a van with two occupants was able to avoid another collision by braking hard. Fortunately, the occupants of this vehicle were uninjured. However, the 35-year-old driver of the Seat sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately flown to the Greifswald University Medical Center in a rescue helicopter. A passenger in the back seat, 29 years old, was also seriously injured and taken to Rostock University Medical Center.

The situation for the three other occupants of the Seat - aged 17, 20 and 21 - was also dramatic as they suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to the Neubrandenburg Clinic. On the other hand, the 69-year-old BMW driver was the only one who escaped with minor injuries and was transported to the hospital in Waren by ambulance. A total of around 100 firefighters, rescue services and police were on site to deal with the situation.

A DEKRA expert was immediately called in on the orders of the public prosecutor's office to clarify the exact cause of the accident. A specialist company took care of cleaning the road after the accident. The total damage is estimated at around 30,000 euros, and the B194 had to be completely closed for a period of around five hours due to the rescue and recovery work.

The police have already started investigating the exact cause of the accident, as such incidents not only cause material damage, but also have a devastating impact on those affected and their relatives. The authorities hope that the experts deployed will provide clarity and possible preventative measures for the future.
