Theater magic in Parchim: New program delights young and old!

In recent weeks, the Parchimer Kulturmühle has developed into a real magnet for theater lovers. On the first weekend in July, the Schwerin Ballet transformed the stage into an impressive spectacle that captivated many spectators. But that's just the beginning: In the coming season, the Parchimer stage will become the home for other divisions of the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater due to the closure of the Great House in Schwerin due to construction.

The program is rich and exciting! The Fritz-Reuter-Bühne is planning three premieres in Parchim before the new pieces are shown in Schwerin's M*Halle. The highlight will be the premiere of the Low German comedy “De verflixte Strump” by Hans Balzer on October 10th, followed by the Schwerin premiere on October 16th. The entire anticipation is reinforced by the productions by Adelheid Müther, who wants to delight viewers with two modern comedies from January.

Current and upcoming performances

The first months of next year offer a varied program for theatergoers. “Rup un Rünner” (Low German premiere) will be shown in Parchim from January 23rd, followed by “Kolle witte Mann” from March 27th. Another highlight is the folk song evening “It can’t always stay like this”, which will honor the 80th anniversary of the theater in Parchim on September 20th.

But things will continue to be exciting beyond the next few months! In 2026, Parchim will celebrate its 800th birthday, and the theater has committed itself to a special piece with the performance of “The Festival Committee” on May 30th. In addition, the Mecklenburg State Orchestra will give a festival concert in the Kulturmühle on June 3, 2026, which will properly ring in the anniversary year.

Theater and social engagement

The “Spot on!” support association e. V., which was launched on October 7, 2008, plays an important role in Parchim's theater landscape. With around 50 members, the association aims to introduce more people to the world of theater, especially children and young people. Among other things, he supports projects that promote young people's access to the Young State Theater. The theater is not only a place for entertainment, but also a space for intercultural exchange.

The city of Parchim also attaches great importance to cultural activities and sees itself as the guardian of cultural vitality. The Cultural Office offers support to individuals and groups in organizing various events and using urban spaces. These measures strengthen the promotion of culture in and around Parchim and are part of a comprehensive strategy to preserve and expand the local cultural heritage, as shown on the city's website (https://www.parchim.de/de/buergerservice-1/buergerservice/freizeit-sport-und-kulturaktivitaet/kulturfoerderung/).

All of these events and initiatives clearly show that Parchim has a lively cultural scene to offer. There is great anticipation for the upcoming performances, and the audience can already look forward to many unforgettable evenings at the theater!
