Celebrate with us! 20 years of the Löcknitz local history association – a celebration for everyone!

The Löcknitz local history and castle association is facing a special occasion: on June 21, 2025, the association will celebrate its 20th anniversary on the idyllic castle meadow. Preparations for this festival are already in full swing and anticipation is great. From 2.30 p.m., not only members but also guests are cordially invited to take part in this special day. The celebrations include a long coffee table with a focus on socializing.

A highlight of the afternoon will be the live music from the duo “Rock2” from Torgelow, which will heat up the atmosphere with suitable sounds. An exhibition will also open from 2 p.m. showing the last 20 years of volunteer work in the Burg Gallery. The club members can proudly look back on the work they have done and appreciate their commitment. The evening will end with a dance event from 7 p.m. with DJ Jürgen into Midsummer Night.

Review of the most recent meeting

An important step on the way to this anniversary was the annual general meeting, which took place on January 24th in the “Haus am See” hotel. Despite absences due to illness, 33 members were present. The meeting lasted 45 minutes and went well: the board received discharge after a detailed activity, financial and audit report. In addition, unanimous resolutions were made for 2025, including an exciting project idea for cooperation with the Löcknitz Regional School.

The former mayor of Löcknitz, Mr. Meistring, traveled from Berlin specifically to attend the meeting. A warm moment was the awarding of active members with certificates of honor and the acceptance of four members as honorary members. Another two members were awarded the MV volunteer card. Secretary Jürgen Karlstedt presented the meeting with hundreds of photos from which a selection will be made for the exhibition in June.

The challenges for clubs

In the last 15 years, the general conditions for clubs have changed significantly. Data protection and financial regulations have taken hold and require boards to adhere to strict regulations. Liability for board members in particular has increased, and since 2015 they can be held accountable for negligent actions. Many clubs, including the Heimat- und Burgverein, are striving to actively meet these challenges and to attract new members through creative solutions and modern communication channels in order to remain attractive and relevant.

Similar to the significance of the anniversary, the club's celebration is perceived as an expression of cohesion and tradition in the region. Preparations are in full swing and the anticipation for June 21st is palpable. The summer solstice festival is a welcome opportunity to celebrate volunteerism and community achievements - here in Löcknitz, where community spirit is very important.
