Strasburg's 775 years: City festival wanks without calling for donations!

in Strasburg, the picturesque city in the Uckermark, is something special in the air: in 2025 the proud anniversary of 775 years of city rights will be celebrated. In order to duly appreciate this important event, the city administration has planned a festival week and a city festival from September 12th to 14th, 2025. But despite the anticipation, the celebrations stand in the way of financial hurdles, and the city asks for support.

The preparations are already in full swing, but the draft budget for 2025 was rejected in April, which made planning difficult. A decided budget has not yet been in sight, and this means that important voluntary services, such as the city festival, are at risk. However, approval for a double budget 2025/2026 was signaled in recent committee meetings, and the decision should be made at the end of June. Nevertheless, the city administration does not want to put the plans on hold, as nordkurier reports.

To enable the celebrations, funding applications were made, but the notices are still pending. In order to implement the different program items, the city is dependent on financial support. A public call for donations was launched, and the first funds in the lower four -digit range have already been received. A sum in the lower five -digit range is required for the festival. Donors can look forward to a small memory present for the 775th anniversary, which is presented as a thank you.

The planned program includes a variety of cultural events, musical performances, sports activities, a festival march and special offers for families. The participation of local associations, schools and citizens is very important, because this should experience the sense of community. So far, 35 participants have already registered for the parade - a nice opportunity to bring local history to life.

Due to the tense financial situation, however, some program items must be deleted. The climbing park, the Schalmeiekapelle, a laser show and a music band fall away. The fireworks will also be smaller than originally planned. Despite these cuts, the city remains optimistic and wants to score with a varied range of events. The association for culture, education and sport also takes over the organization of a children's program and the financing.
