The new year starts in Rostock with a magnificent spectacle: on January 1st, 2026 at 6:00 p.m Warnemünde tower lights go to the 26th round. This event attracts not only locals but also numerous tourists - up to 70,000 visitors are expected this year. The last event attracted tens of thousands of guests, and this time too there will be a great program of lights, lasers, fireworks and music.
What can visitors expect? The motto “Bright spots” is accompanied by seven carefully selected music tracks. The live artist Ola van Sander will reinterpret a special hit by the band KARAT. So it's a full house when the preliminary program begins at 3 p.m.! From December 28th to January 3rd, a gourmet mile with around 40 stalls will provide culinary highlights - a highlight not only for those with a sweet tooth.
Practical information on how to get there
Since this is an event in the city center, the traffic restrictions must be observed from January 1st at 10 a.m. on Seestraße and Am Leuchtturm street. From 2 p.m. the town center will be completely closed, with the closure planned for 8 p.m. We therefore recommend traveling by public transport. A Park & Ride service is available at the Lichtenhagen and Lütten Klein S-Bahn stops.
It is particularly worth mentioning that 1.9 kilometers of fence elements must be installed to protect the coastal biotope. This shows the organizers' sense of responsibility towards nature and the surrounding area, which is very important.
Organizer and financing
The event is organized in collaboration with the Rostock and Warnemünde Tourism Office and the organizer Hanse Event, represented by Torsten Sitte and Martina Hildebrandt. A new partner this year is AIDA Cruises, which offers additional support. The tower lights are also free to enter, thanks to the sponsors and partners who join forces.
After the event had to be canceled in 2023 due to storm warnings, those responsible are hoping that the weather gods will be in a good mood this time. The security concept has already been drawn up in collaboration with the police and the Warnow transport association so that all visitors can start the new year safely.
The Warnemünde Tower Lights is part of a series of spectacular light festivals that can be experienced in Germany and Europe.
