On August 31, 2025, a serious accident on the A24 between Zarrentin and Gudow caused a stir and significant traffic disruptions. At around 1:00 p.m., a 24-year-old Portuguese man drove his Opel Corsa into a Citroën. A total of six people were injured, including the driver of the Citroën and the five occupants of the Opel. While four of them only suffered minor injuries, one seriously injured person had to be taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. The cause of the accident is currently unclear and the police have taken over the investigation into the incident.

This led to a considerable backlog between Wittenburg and Gudow, which amounted to up to four kilometers. Motorists had to expect at least an hour of additional travel time. The volunteer fire brigades from the area were also on duty to support the rescue efforts.
Drug test positive for THC and amphetamine
The result of a drug test carried out on the driver of the Opel Corsa is particularly alarming. This was positive for THC and amphetamine. The police have therefore initiated an investigation into the danger to road traffic. The amount of material damage is as follows Day24 to around 20,000 euros.
