Five-lake run: Over 3400 runners celebrate a grand sports festival in Schwerin!

Schwerin, Deutschland - On July 5, 2025, it was again called "on the seats, done, go!" on the five-lake run in Schwerin. Around 3,400 participants from different countries such as Denmark, the USA and Norway came to run together around the picturesque Schweriner See. This time the starting shot was laid at 8:30 a.m. at Bertha-Klingberg-Platz, and the athletes could let off steam under the five categories: Seemeile, 10 kilometers, half marathon (21.1 kilometers) and walking.

The 10 km distance attracted most participants with almost 1000 runners. With a time of less than 40 minutes, Moritz Fass was able to win the victory in this category. The participation of the oldest athletes of the day was also particularly remarkable: Maria-Luise Klug from Hanover in the half marathon and Gert Kleinschmidt, who mastered the 10 km route at the proud 87 years. Among the other participants were fifteen runners of the Athletics Neustadt-Glewe athletics, who took up the challenge in their own way.

insights and support

The event was not only a sporting event, but also a festival of cohesion. Over 200 helpers were deployed, including friends, families and volunteers from the fire brigade, who made the event a full success. A team of doctors was also on site to ensure the safety of the runners. Above all, the participation of family members who brought name signs for their relatives created a warm atmosphere.

The nautical mile for children up to 12 years also had a great response and recorded 312 participants. A special highlight were the three brothers from Ludwigslust, who described the run as their home run and thus provided a piece of regional identity. In addition, the 40-member group of Ricarda Saffan and her colleague Ronny von Trolli in Hagenow was proof of how community sense is also created in sporting competition

health and security

But there is also a serious note behind the happiness. Participation in the five-lake run includes the recognition of an extensive disclaimer. Participants must be aware that they are responsible for their health constitution themselves and also have to agree to a medical exclusion in the event of health risks. This ensures that all athletes are well prepared and physically fit to enjoy their competition in the best possible way. The German Athletics Association has also developed an international questionnaire to assess health risks in order to raise awareness of preventive health care and thus minimize the risk of injuries.

The results of all participants can be viewed online and not only give an overview of the services, but also about the community that was created by this run. The organization of the five-lake run shows that sport is not only a competition, but also a way to bring people together and sensitize them to their health, in line with the community thoughts.

For those who are still thinking about participating: Registrations for the next edition have already been opened, with the participants have to confirm the tender and liability for their participation by a brief click on the official website.
