Shock on the B111: 72-year-old causes accident with four injured!

A serious traffic accident caused a stir on federal highway 111 near Wolgast on Thursday afternoon. At around 4:30 p.m., shortly before the junction with district road 22, there was a serious collision between an Opel Corsa and a van. A 72-year-old driver from Pritzier was traveling towards Wolgast when, for reasons that are still unclear, he suddenly turned left and collided head-on with the oncoming van, as nordkurier.de reported.

The result of this collision was four slightly injured people: the driver himself and two passengers aged 66 and 74, as well as the 43-year-old driver of the van. Fortunately, all of the injured were treated on site by the emergency services and released on the same day.

Traffic jams and traffic disruptions

The accident site at the Ziesebrücke was completely closed for around 30 minutes. This naturally led to significant traffic disruptions, especially in the direction of Usedom, where long traffic jams formed [ostsee-zeitung.de]. The material damage is estimated at around 70,000 euros, and both vehicles were no longer drivable and had to be towed away.

What is particularly alarming is that a fatal accident with several injuries occurred at the same location a few weeks ago. This incident once again highlights the dangers at this intersection. The police immediately began investigating the exact cause of the accident.
