Eintracht Braunschweig celebrates 130 years with a fantastic choreo against Schalke!
Eintracht Braunschweig celebrated an important anniversary on December 15th: the club's 130th birthday. To mark this special event, a big celebration took place at the last home game of the year against FC Schalke 04. The atmosphere in the stadium was exuberant because the traditional club not only celebrated, but also took an important step towards staying in the league by winning the game 2-1. The news38.de reports that the Braunschweigers are the autumn champions.
The fans of Eintracht Braunschweig brought the south curve to life with an impressive choreography. Yellow and blue cardboard plaques were held up while a large block flag was unfurled. The slogan “That’s why brothers clink glasses – long live the club” was depicted on this flag, along with portraits of the club’s founding fathers. Before kick-off, children also waved blue and yellow flags and sweetened the atmosphere. The entire stadium joined in a chant that lasted several minutes: “130 years of BTSV” – a homage to the club’s long-standing tradition.
Special anniversary promotions
The celebrations surrounding the anniversary were large-scale. In addition to the choreography, two special stadium cups were also designed to celebrate the club's history. Fans and the club worked together to launch a mobilization campaign for the home game, which was presented in a video. Another highlight was the special jersey, which is reminiscent of the club's early days. It featured all previous club logos and was presented as a white anniversary jersey. But strangely enough, it wasn't worn at the game itself.
However, the glory of the game was overshadowed by bad news: Eintracht Braunschweig struggled from behind at the start, but was able to catch up and take the important win. The club is now in 13th place in the table, which is important for the relegation battle.
A monument to history
The club has a proud history that dates back to 1895. At this point, Konrad Koch laid the foundation for football in Braunschweig, which has since developed into a significant force in German football. Football itself has shaped generations for over 150 years and is part of German identity. From its beginnings as a controversial sport – derided at the time as “footlooseness” – to the founding of the DFB in 1900, this sport has come a long way.
Eintracht's successes in the 1960s and 1970s are further proof of the club's unbroken sporting spirit. Back then, Eintracht Braunschweig became German champions in 1967 – a highlight that fans still have fond memories of today. Since 2012, the club's coat of arms has been similar to that of 1920 and thus symbolizes the pride in the club's tradition.
Eintracht Braunschweig is already planning its next home game against 1. FC Magdeburg on January 16th and will then officially present the celebration jerseys. So it will continue to be exciting for the fans!
