Celebrating research: Thousands at the SummerVibes Festival in Braunschweig!
A hot weekend for research: The event “Explore. Celebrate. Play.” took place at the Technical University of Braunschweig. took place, which attracted more than 7,000 visitors. With bright sunshine and summer temperatures, the atmosphere on the North Campus was simply wonderful. Especially that Summer Vibes Festival, which took place on Saturday, attracted over 4,000 young people.
The CampusXperience started on Friday evening in the Audimax with a colorful science slam. Six talented young scientists presented their projects and thrilled the more than 500 spectators. Jennifer Pierick secured the coveted first place with her descriptive contribution about “Lama Drama in the Lab”. This type of science communication, which is becoming increasingly important, promotes dialogue between research and society and helps to strengthen trust in scientific findings such as DFG emphasized.
A festival for young and old
On Saturday things really got going: over 30 tours of institutes, laboratories and research centers invited people to take a look behind the scenes of science. The visitors had the opportunity to talk directly to scientists and thus gain insights into exciting research projects. The participation offers at the SummerVibes Festival ranged from acro yoga to exciting ninja warrior parkour challenges to a large mega trampoline. There was also a lot for the little guests to discover, including sailing on land and readings.
A special highlight of the festival was the Science Field, where a wide variety of research projects were clearly presented through workshops, experiments and exhibits. The pupils and students who were looking for this exchange found exciting suggestions and ideas for their own interests and projects.
Community and sporting competition
The crowning conclusion was a university sports festival on Sunday afternoon, which was also very well received. Here the participants were able to try out new sports and demonstrate their skills in tournaments. Such shared experiences strengthen the feeling of community and offer a welcome change from academic routine. The collaboration between the TU Braunschweig, the AStA and other partners such as the Braunschweig City Youth Association shows how important such events are for the local community.
Thanks to the commitment of the Ecki-Wohlgehagen Foundation and the Braunschweig University Association, the SummerVibes Festival is not only a celebration of science, but also a place of exchange and inspiration for all age groups. At a time when science is more in demand than ever, such events are a valuable contribution to promoting education and knowledge in society, as the DFG emphasizes in the press.
