The Berlin Senate Department is critical of the application, with spokeswoman Sabine Beikler emphasizing that the city does not want to take any financial risks. The DFB Executive Board has already made its decision and the final decision on the venues will be made in December 2025.
However, the positive response to the application of the remaining cities gives hope for an exciting future. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf is optimistic about the chances of the German applicants and highlights the previous experiences at Euro 1989 and 2001. The 2029 European Championship will be held with 16 teams in eight stadiums. Until then, it remains to be seen how the applications will develop as fans in Berlin want to enjoy an exciting game today.
