1. FC Magdeburg started the second half of the 2nd Bundesliga with a convincing 3-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig. In front of 22,436 enthusiastic spectators in the stadium, coach Petrik Sander's team played to its strengths and was able to take revenge for the opening defeat in the first leg. With this victory, the Magdeburgers continue their series of five games unbeaten and climb to 13th place in the table with 20 points. A performance that not only made the fans cheer!
The first half of the game belonged to the guests from Magdeburg. Mateusz Zukowski in particular caused a stir in the first minute, but was denied by the attentive Braunschweig keeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann. The best opportunity to go behind was prevented by Dominik Reimann, who once again impressed as captain and goalkeeper and remained without conceding a goal for the fifth time this season. Zukowski's goal to make it 1-0 came deservedly in the 41st minute after a shot from Hoffmann rebounded. So we went into the half-time break with a narrow lead.
Effective second half
The second half started with a determined Braunschweig team trying to build pressure. A great chance caused excitement: a header from Erencan Yardimci only landed on the side netting (30th minute). In the 79th minute, Baris Atik made it 2-0 for Magdeburg, beautifully placed from twelve meters. The team didn't relax and Maximilian Breunig made it 3-0 in the 90th minute.
The Magdeburgers proved to be the more active team, while Braunschweig waited for counterattack opportunities. This success not only provides self-confidence, but also increases anticipation for the upcoming derby against Dynamo Dresden.
