In a crucial meeting on September 19, 2025, the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association sealed the future of the popular student ticket. How regionalheute.de reported, an indefinite extension of the school and trainee ticket was decided, which, since its introduction in 2020, has allowed schoolchildren, students and those doing voluntary service unlimited travel in the region for a manageable 30 euros per month.
This decision is no coincidence. The ticket is very popular and offers a cost-effective alternative to the Germany ticket, which currently costs 58 euros. The association has emphasized that the extension of the ticket must be subject to the condition that the necessary financing, especially for the Germany ticket compensation, remains secured.

At the meeting, the association chairman Detlef Tanke emphasized the great importance of the ticket for young people. Sales of the 30 euro ticket have increased steadily since its introduction in August 2020, which underlines the demand. The transport association's shareholders' meeting also unanimously approved the continued financing of the ticket until December 31, 2025, which is very pleasing for the family pockets.
The student ticket is valid not only for buses, but also for all regional trains and trams in the Braunschweig Region Transport Association (VRB) every day of the week.
